Snow Anyone ?!? Yes Please…

On a Saturday morning with a storm warning on the horizon what do the majority of people do? They go buy some milk, a little bit of groceries, rent a movie or two, and prepare the shovels for the snow. But what do ski and snowboard enthusiasts do… they celebrate !

With a couple of phone calls and a few IM’s, your car is full and good to go. That’s exactly what I did on December 27th. If you compare the start of this season to the last 3 years…well you can’t compare them. We had more snow in December 2007 than the last 3 years put together.

On the 27th we only had 5 to 10cm of new snow but that’s enough to make the slopes 10 times better. Every time you go up the chairlift a new thin layer of snow piles up and it feels like a new run every time. My day at Poley mountain was one of the best I’ve had in a long time. All the trails were open and their was a fresh cover of powder everywhere.

And of course it’s to good to be true. We’re not allowed to a have a normal winter anymore. The snow is basically all gone so the conditions are probably back to what they were the past few years. ICE, ICE and ICE. If you’re an addict like I am, Poley is still the right choice. It’s still the only mountain in the Atlantic’s that has snow machines. Unlike the other mountains, it only needs cold weather to remain open.

So if we get more snow and you’re looking for a good time. For 60$ dollars, or 30$ if you’re one of the lucky ones with equipment, go out because the snow tends to leave us fast theses days. I’ve looked around and the prices are comparable with every other mountain in the area. Before you go out take alook at their website HERE. and look at the conditions. I’ve used it a lot and they’re honest about it.
